How this affects our recommendations
It doesn’t. We recommend equipment based on whether it actually helps you bake better bread. A few principles we hold to:
- We recommend the cheapest thing that works, not the most expensive thing that pays best. A $40 Dutch oven that bakes great bread beats a $400 one that bakes the same loaf.
- We say when you don’t need to buy something. Most bread needs flour, water, salt, and time — not gadgets.
- If a popular product isn’t good, we say so, commission or not.
