Edith’s Bread is a practical guide to baking bread at home — the kind of bread you actually eat on a Tuesday, not just the showpiece loaf.
What you’ll find here
- Recipes that work in a normal home kitchen, with normal flour, in a normal oven.
- Techniques explained in terms of what’s happening in the dough, so you can adapt instead of just following steps.
- Troubleshooting for when a loaf comes out flat, dense, gummy, or pale — with the actual cause, not a guess.
- Equipment guides that tell you what’s worth buying and, more often, what isn’t.
Our approach
Bread is four ingredients and a lot of patience. Most baking problems come down to a handful of variables — temperature, hydration, fermentation time, and gluten development — and once you understand those, recipes stop being rules and start being starting points.
So we explain the why. If you know why a loaf collapsed, you can prevent it next time, in any recipe.
